Quick Tip: How to Represent Dates in Scientific Manuscripts

As we all know, dates are represented in a variety of ways in our daily lives. However, the proper way to indicate a date in a scientific manuscript is often a mystery to people. Here are the general rules to follow:

1) If you are trying to indicate a specific day, month, and year, it is different for British and American English:

British English: 18 April 2020

American English: April 18, 2020

2) Avoid all-numeral dates (e.g., 4/10/2020) as it can lead to confusion as to which number represents the day and which one represents the month.
